Third Party Rights
Certain third parties, such as grandparents, have the right to petition the court for legal decision making authority or placement of the child. Third parties may also be awarded visitation with the child or children so long as the court determines that the visitation is in the child’s best interest and certain statutorily mandated factors exist. Grandparents have a special role in the lives of children. Unfortunately, divorce and other problems sometimes interfere with these very precious rights.
